She will protect her identity with her very life if necessary. Who will protect her from herself? Shoney’s lightning speed with a bow captures Ronan by surprise, and their chance meeting ends with him lying unconscious at the bottom of a ravine. When he awakens, he cannot rid his mind of her startling beauty, her valor, or the secret fear he glimpsed in her steel eyes. He vows to find her, but as the mysteries of her identity unfold, his courage and heart are tested as never before.
Their loyalties are unyielding
Until a good author friend of mine recently recommended, I had yet to hear of this author or any books written. I am now forever thankful for her recommendation. This book was just superb, enlightening, and a number one!!
Set in the middle ages on the Isle of Mull, which is just gorgeous might I add. Based on a relationship between Shoney and Ronan. Their budding romance will keep you engrossed; constantly falling in love with both of them based on their loyalty and personalities.
Shoney, one of the last “healing women,” is not a suitable or proper wife for Ronan. Of course, as many can relate, this is based on her background and where she is originally from.
Ronan is heir and will soon take over to become Chiefdom. Based around this, everyone is against Shoney and in no way supporting a healthy relationship between the two. Ronan is alpha male to the core which adds to the entertainment of this read. He is not familiar with women like Shoney; independent, feisty, and have learn to take care of themselves over the years.
Every turn shows Ronan wanting to be the leader and provider, making all the rules. Of course, Shoney has something else in store for him! Ronan is torn, due to being enthralled by Shoney because of how she carries herself. As a son of the chief, he knows he has a responsibility to his clan; making good and sound decisions. But their love cannot be denied, no matter how hard they try to stay away, they just can not seem to do it.
This book kept me addicted. When I reached the end, which I never wanted to reach, I felt instant melancholy because I had related so much to these two. The historical detail in this book is so vivid; taking you right into medieval Scotland. You really feel as if you are standing there with the whole clan.
The sex scenes are not raunchy yet intelligent, poetic, and thrilling. Lily Baldwin delivered these words beautifully and I know that I will read this for a second time, maybe even a third.
The characters are described so generously you feel as if you’ve made new friends in them.
The plot moved at a quick pace. I found myself awake at two in the morning wanting to read just a few more chapters! Knowing I should be asleep. If you haven’t read this book, you all are missing out on a PLATINUM read. Add this to your TO READ list! You will be amazed at Lily Baldwin’s writing abilities. I swear, you won’t be able to put it down! I could not myself.
